-The world premiere of a new 20-minute long piece, entitled "The Triumph", will be given on Oct. 19 with Blue Heron at First Church in Cambridge. This piece, commissioned by Blue Heron, is written for choir, bowed tanbur (long-necked lute), ney (end-blown flute) and two percussionists. The text is by a Turkish Bektashi Sufi dervish, Edip Harabi. Tickets & More Info

-Mehmet will play two movements from "A Gentleman of Istanbul" at the inaugural concert of the Turkish American Orchestra at the Symphony Space in NY on Oct. 26. Tickets & More Info

-Mehmet will present a talk about the SANLIKOL Renaissance 17 with a demonstration as part of New England Conservatory's Fall Festival. This free presentation will take place at Brown Hall on Nov. 11. Mehmet will be joined by the members of his trio.

-Celebrated classical saxophonist Ken Radnofsky commissioned a 15-minute long piece for saxophone and piano which he will premiere at Jordan Hall on Nov. 22 (as part of an event honoring Gunther Schuller). This piece is entitled "Songs of the Conjurer" and it portrays a kind of melancholia Ottoman conjurers experienced due to their profession declining during the early 20th century and them slowly being seen as lower-class/out of fashion entertainers. 

-Critically acclaimed Borromeo string quartet will premiere their commissioned piece (about 10 min. long) on Nov. 25 at Jordan Hall. This piece is entitled "The Demons and Humans of Siyah-Kalem" and each of its four movements are based on utterly unique drawings by Mehmed Siyah-Kalem who, most likely, lived in Central Asia or Eastern Anatolia during the 14-15 cc.
